Lupine and arrowleaf balsamroot flowers overlook the Palouse hills on Steptoe Butte, Washington. This is a classic scene of the Palouse in spring and early summer, when native flowers bloom on buttes and other uncultivated areas and agricultural crops begin to turn brilliant shades of green among the darker fallow fields.
