This is part of a series of photos I made of a lovely pond and a willow tree in the Palouse hills of Eastern Washington. Each of the photos were taken while moving the camera and/or lens while taking a long exposure. This makes the photographs appear somewhat abstract and as if they'd been created using some other medium, such as pastels or colored pencils. In this photo, the abstraction borders on the surreal, with overemphasized colors and a rush of movement giving the willow a dancing, energetic animal-ness.
