"The Palouse~A Little Bit of Heaven on Earth"

This scene displays all the elements of the classic Palouse landscape-- undulating agricultural hills and picturesque farm buildings under a dramatic autumn sky. Yes, it really is autumn in this scene, even though the field is so green. Winter wheat planted in early fall sprouts by late autumn, making many Palouse fields a surprising spring-time green color throughout the winter. The light snows of winter protect the sprouts and provide them with water when the snow melts in spring.

This photo was taken in Viola, just north of Moscow, Idaho, and shows a barn and farm on the Idaho side of the state line, and Parker Butte, just over the border into Washington state.
